LOCAL BEACHES ON THE MAHAREES PENINSULA

Situated within 2 to 3 Miles of Kerry Cottages are some of the most stunningly beautiful beaches in Ireland. With a combination of safe and sandy beaches for children and world famous surfing beaches all framed by the Slieve Mish and Mount Brandon mountain ranges.

CASTLEGREGORY STRAND
East of the village on Tralee Bay. The nearest beach to Kerry Cottages.
Sandy beach, good for swimming, safe for children with low surf.

MAHARABEG BLUE FLAG BEACH
North of Castlegregory village at the base of the Maharees.
Sandy beach, good for swimming, safe for children with low surf.

SANDY BAY
Further north of Castlegregory village on the Maharees east side. Kids watersports clubs are located here.
Sandy beach, good for swimming, safe for children with low surf.

SCRAGGANE BAY
At the north end of the Maharees Peninsula. Popular with windsurfers – fantastic spectators viewing spot. Sand and Shingle beach, good for experienced swimmers with strong currents. Not suitable for children.

BRANDON BAY
The longest beach in Ireland stretches from Spillane’s pub at Fahamore on the Maharees westwards through Castlegregory to Cloghane village – 12 miles in length.

This beach is a haven for surfers with guaranteed year round surf. For very experienced swimmers only. Not suitable for children.
